Today I turn 29 and this past year has been an amazing ride. Around this time last year I talked to Jake Stangel and was telling him that I felt like I just wasn’t cut out to do editorial photography. It had been several years of not much progress, not many clients and weeks spent sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, which it rarely did. I am really grateful that he set me straight.
My 12 months as a 28-year-old were insane. I got the chance to work with my favorite publications and clients, I published and exhibited HOME, and did the most important work so far of my career with By The Olive Trees. And I am incredibly grateful for everyone who helped me out along the way. The list of people who have hooked me up this year by passing my name on, financially supporting my work, letting me crash, talking through ideas, inspiring me, hiring me, assisting me, being patient with me for always being gone, and just encouraging me is so massive and humbling.
Hopefully I can repay each and every one of you in some way in the future. But for right now, I just want to say thanks.
benjamin rasmussen is one of my favorite photographers at the moment. i am always excited to see what he does next.
